Privacy Policy

HoopSim (“we,” “us”) operates the web app and mobile app at hoopsimapp.app. This policy describes what information is collected and how it is used.

Summary

HoopSim is a free basketball simulation app. We do not require accounts, do not sell your data, and do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Information sent to our servers

When you run a simulation, your device sends requests to our servers with:

• Roster and team selections you choose in the app
• Game mode settings needed to run the simulation

This data is used only to perform the simulation and return results. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or sell it to third parties.

Versus sessions and optional content

In Versus mode, the app may send additional data to our servers so friends can play a live session together:

• Session and join-code state (so hosts and guests can meet in the same lobby)
• Draft, roulette, or auction actions you take during the game
• Optional in-session chat messages you send to other players in that lobby

Versus sessions are ephemeral: they exist to run the live game and are not used for advertising. Chat is only among players in that session (people you invite via join code or link), not a public social feed.

If you choose to submit a Season result to a leaderboard, we store the display name and optional team name you provide, along with the season snapshot or scores needed to show the ranking. Leaderboard names are optional and are not tied to an account login.

Information stored on your device

The app may store the following locally in your browser or app storage:

• Draft and Versus session state (so you can resume or share a link)
• Season progress
• UI preferences (e.g. last selected mode)

This data stays on your device unless you share a link that encodes session state in the URL.

What we do not collect

• Payment or billing information (the app is free)
• Account registration or passwords (no login required)
• Precise location
• Contacts, photos, or microphone access

Third-party services

• Hosting: Our API and website are hosted on Render.
• Apple TestFlight / App Store: If you install the iOS app, Apple's terms and privacy policy apply to distribution through their platform.

Children

HoopSim is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
